I think of photography as painting with light. Sometimes the light comes from mother nature, sometimes it's from a strobe. The beauty comes from the light, but the real magic is in the shadows.
Henri Cartier-Bresson said, “Your first 10,000 are your worst.” I’m way over 50,000 by now. I get a lot more I like these days than I used to, but I’m still learning all the time. Landscapes are my first love, but I'm always trying new genres and techniques.
Anything in life worth having is worth working for, and anything worth doing is worth doing well. But, if you aren't having any fun, it's probably not worth having or doing.
I'm pretty willing do what it takes to get the shot. Stay up late, get up early, get dirty, get wet, climb up, climb down, make questionable decisions about my personal safety... What the heck! We're insured, right? We ARE insured, aren't we?
I was born and raised in the Hoosier state, but have called Hawaii my home since 2002. Lots of people move to Hawaii because they can’t deal with the cold. That’s not why I’m here. I actually like the snow -- 2 weeks a year. I'm here to see and do things you can't do there. So, I made my life here, and it has been an interesting ride so far.
